Manning, SC - Marching and making history, the Manning High School marching band came home Thursday night after playing at the president’s inaugural parade.

Millions watched the Manning High School marching band play on a day a president made history.

“I was scared but it felt good to be out there and just show them what we could do,” said band member, Jaquatiah Canty.

It was not an easy road for the group that had to raise $40,000 for the trip, but in their eyes, well worth it.

“It's hard work, but after you get through with the hard work it's rewarding to know, just to see all the looks on everyone’s face. I don't have words for it," said Jonheisha Canty.

Instead they had their music that led them through a historical moment.

Now back, the students say they got to see all they could of the nation’s capital, even meeting U.S. Senator Jim Clyburn.

“He is so inspirational. Everything he said are words you can relate to in your daily life,” said Jonheisha Canty.

After all the practice and the ultimate performance, the Canty sister’s could only think of one thing to do, “Relax.”

The buses arrived separately because one of the buses broke down in North Carolina.

The band actually raised $100,000, which they'll use for uniforms and new equipment.
