University band is preparing for an unforgettable
performance at the inauguration parade for President-elect Barack Obama.
Members are practicing up to four hours a day to prepare for next week's
parade.
The band played for presidents Carter, Clinton and the first term of
George W. Bush. But band director Larry Pannell said this opportunity is special
for the historically black college.
"What an honor to say you've played for the first president, but then to
say you're playing for the first president of color," Pannell said. "That's
almost synonymous with saying we're playing for George Washington."
The 201 band members leave for Washington on Sunday. They raised $100,000
to pay for the trip.
